Tokyo Crazy Paradise
Mangaka Nakamura YoshikiStory
[Kozuki] Tsukasa is an orphan, along with her 3 brothers, Takuma [older], Toshiyuki [younger], and Shouhei [youngest]. She was raised as a boy for protection from the crazy world of Tokyo Crazy Paradise, since all the crimes there are rarely conduct at night - instead, they're usually in broad daylight, and no one even cared enough to help those in need! Since this is usually the case, Tsukasa is brought up to be a dependable "boy", which she did grow to be, but occasionally, her feminine side does show through. When they no longer have shelter, Tsukasa, deprived of food and shelter, went to [Shirogami] Ryuuji for help, since she knows that the dude's rich - besides, he's a classmate of hers, why shouldn't he help?Of course, the fact that Tsukasa's parents are cop and Ryuuji's father's a Yakuza (sort of like a mafia) doesn't really help - this only make them enemies, really. But after a few begging and pleading, and Ryuuji still doesn't give in, Tsukasa claims that she saw the man who shot his father. Ryuuji immediately wanted to know the details and this lets Tsukasa have the upper hand, and in the end, Ryuuji gave in. He provide her and her brothers with food and when she can't give the details of the man who killed his father, he proceeded to kidnap her brothers and plan to torture them if Tsukasa still couldn't do anything about it. (Err, guess he has the upperhand on things now, eh?)
Tsukasa complies and says that she will definitely recognize him when she sees him. Ryuuji gives in, again, but he said that in return, she'll have to be his bodyguard! Erm, yeah, I don't know how that will help Tsukasa recognize the father's murderer, but you're the Yakuza, Ryuuji. It turns out to be a great twist of event, though, since Tsukasa and Ryuuji's moves are sort of synchronized with each other, so it makes the job easier to conduct.
One day while taking a bath after PE, Tsukasa has to wait for the others to finish bathing (since, remember, she's actually a girl, but has to take a bath at the guys' washroom), and when she finally has the chance to take a bath, some guys came in and she's stuck in the bathroom for quite a while, unable to come out. Some guys decided it would be fun to kick the bathroom doors, but before they could kick Tsukasa's, Ryuuji came to the rescue! Tsukasa, in alarm, tried to conceal her feminine body, but Ryuuji just gave her a towel and asks her to conceal herself. Tsukasa, puzzled at his reaction, changes into her outfit and wonders if Ryuuji knows her secret...
He did. And on top of that, she owed him since he saved her life when she was still little! Anyways. Back into Ryuuji's household, we have [Kamojima] Toshiyuki, whom Tsukasa had dubbed Kamo-san! Kamo-san is kind of like Ryuuji's helper, emotionally and physically, and he really cares about Ryuuji since he's been with Ryuuji and saw his "development" since Ryuuji was little. After Ryuuji's father had passed away, he has been a "replacement" for Ryuuji's father. He somehow thinks that Tsukasa and Ryuuji belongs together, since Tsukasa seems to bring out the best of Ryuuji.
We also see [Shibuya] Rouku, one of Ryuuji's other helpers. He's sort of like a stiff-neck compared to Kamo-san, but he helps Ryuuji in ways that he couldn't physically. We're later introduced to [Sumon] Asago, who will be one of the leading characters in this manga, too. Asago is said to be Ryuuji's Durga, which is a name for the Yakuza's wife. A job as a Durga isn't easy, as Asago will have to protect herself and Ryuuji. She saw Tsukasa as a threat, especially after finding out that Tsukasa is a girl after a while! So there we have all the "main" casts of Tokyo Crazy Paradise, but of course that's not all. After a period of time, more characters will come along such as Kaya-san and the landlord and others, so go read it!
Art
Yoshiki-san's art could be said as a blend of classic and modern art, which is a delightful combination as you could see in the cover!
